Habits are wierd sometimes.

I have a caffeine addiciton. But I don’t drink coffee at home. Normally that’s not an issue, my wife and I like to go out to breakfast in the mornings, and during the week I’m at work. Well, this week I’ve been on parental leave. Still sort of working from home part time. But not going in I get no coffee. I have headaches (withdrawel symptoms) but I wont make myself coffee at home, and I wont pay by the cup for it…

I normally go into work a half hour early to goof off online. That’s when I’ve been updating here, and it’s been hard to do so from home. Even though I’ve had some good news.

First off there was more in the car than anticipated, so I was able to deposit $20.45 when I walked tot he bank on Tuesday. On the way back from the bank (or on that same walk after I stopped at the bank) I found a dime at the Pharmacy. That night my wife and I went to the Super Duper to buy some bread, and although it was closed we found a quarter and four pennies there.

Last night on our walk to the ice cream parlor I found a dime. All in all this brings my total up to $20.94, and my found total up to $2.55. It’s been a good week so far.

4/27/09 Weekend

It was a great weekend. I found an additional $.28, bringing my organic total up to $2.16, and I counted the change in the bottle, bringing my total total up to $15.65. There were some nickles in there as well as pennies but mostly pennies.

The weather was great and we took multiple walks each day. After finding that $.28 at the phamacy (under a bench by the door) I’ve decided to add it as a money spot. I’ll need to remember how to do that. On that subject I also need to get back to the Super Duper, I haven’t been since that first successful trip.

Tomorrow my time becomes much freer as I will start my on again off again paternity leave which will take me about half of the time for the next six weeks. Assuming I can successfully keep the baby alive it should be fun! My intention is that our first walk together (just the baby and I) will be to the bank to deposit the $15 or so. Although if she’s behaving well maybe I’ll clean out the car (I know there’s some change under the floor matts) first.

Evening 4/2

So last night we had beautiful weather. We also made a first attempt at using a sling carrier for the baby while walking. My daughter is still too small to fit in a sturdier both shoulders thing, and the sling doesn’t seem to fit me well. After a short period my wife didn’t like the pressure on her shoulder so we switched to the stroller. We decided to walk tot he Super Duper to buy some produce to add to dinner. I was excited because I’ve read that banks of pop machines often have loose change around them. Besides which it just looked like a good parking lot to look for change in. I wasn’t disappointed I found a dime, three pennies and a nickle for a total of $.18. That brings my total up to $5.48 but more importantly nearly doubles my total of found change from $.20 to $.38. It’s raining now, and if that keeps up we probably wont walk tonight, but this weekend should be a good one.

I have a number of plans for the weekend which includes cleaning the house a bunch which should yield a lot of change, especially if I can find the bottle of Jack filled with change (I think all pennies). If everything goes well I’ll take two walks each of Saturday and Sunday with one being a morning walk where we drive somewhere promising, and the other being a more typical walk around our new home.

I’m going to create a page for money spots with data about each, and although it’s probably premature, I’m going to add the Super Duper to that page. Look it’s a start / work in progress.
